Tri for a Cure

So... last week I signed up to train for the Nation's Triathlon in Washington D.C. this September.  I'm going to do it through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program.  My personal goal is to raise $5,000 for the society before my event.  75% of this will go directly to cancer research, patient care, and education.

I'm really excited about this, and be assured I'll be writing about my progress over the summer. In the meantime, feel free to visit my fund-raising webpage:

What a difference. I've been running on a treadmill for the past 4 months and this week was the first time I ran outdoors.  Outside is a LOT harder once you factor in all of the hills and wind and traffic... and left-over icy patches.

But I like it so much better than a treadmill. Outdoor running is the best, and spring is one fine season to be outdoors.

Ghost Rider (Two-Disc Extended Cut)

I would just like to say that Nicholas Cage would not be my choice for a sexy, dangerous superhero with his skull on fire...  Does anyone remember "Ghost Writer" on PBS?  Now, that would be good casting for Mr. Cage. He'd be good with kids - right.

Last weekend we were enjoying a mini-vacay in the hills of South Dakota.
This weekend we are packing and searching for more boxes for our move.

Last weekend I was getting my back broken by my cuz on the trampoline.
Next weekend I will be lifting box after box (using my leg strength), and moving into our very own house.

Last weekend I was sweating and wandering around outside like a zombie in the triple digit temps.
This weekend I'm visiting our apartment pool and tennis courts while I still can, in triple digit temps.

Last weekend I saw the magnificent national monument, Mt. Rushmore.
This weekend I was in the same town as TobyMac (free performance) and I didn't get to see him.

Last weekend we were eating fresh cherries, steak, anniversary cake and home-made ice cream.
This weekend we're trying to clean out the fridge of leftovers (when they look safe).

July is a good month: birthdays, vacations, family, ice cream, moving into a new house, tennis, fireworks, ice cream...

Monk - Season Two

the Library taunts me...
I love it, I don't love.
this institution provides culture that my husband would never allot for in our budget

the Library...
it has wonderful books on how to train my dog (for future reference),
it has audio books that I zip through while I'm at work,
it has CDs that I'd like to hear but would never buy,
& it has movies.

Problem is, all of the good stuff is usually taken.
The Library website is my new ebay. I like to waste my time checking to see what's available,
and when something I want is available, someone else usually gets it instead.

side note: the huzb is addicted to Monk.  I think he can relate to him.
